VINYL-CUT FINE ART

I've been creating custom vinyl-cut decals/designs since 1996. Besides the standard signage, vehicle graphics, logo handouts, etc, being an artist at heart, I started to create these Pop Art, hard-edged style compositions. They are Computer Cut Vinyl, Hand Finished and Unique. This image is one of my commissioned pieces for UW Parkside, after the new Union construction was completed 2009.

Rolling Hills - Landscapes have been a long time favorite subject of mine. I've previously created paintings and drawings of various landscapes, then took that energy and moved my focus to this medium.

Three Silos - Along with landscapes, silos and farms fit into this scheme. Obviously in Wisconsin, we have plenty of locations with old barns and silos with character.

DOWNTOWN RACINE, WI ART EVENT 2024

    For over 20 years, downtown Racine, WI, has had a public art event. I previously created a design for a cat, bear and otter. This year's is a metal butterfly. A perfect substrate for creating a design using custom vinyl cut graphics. Below is the event website for more information.

      The above compositions are currently being developed as vector art. I will then set the files for vinyl-cut production and hand finishing.

      Art Size and Cost

      The framed art shown, except the UW Parkside piece, are all under 3' long / tall. I keep these within an easy relatively standard size. My pricing has been in the range between $300-$450 depending on size and detail/layers. Custom requests will run higher.

      Process

      Once I've finalized the vector art, I bring it into my cutting software. Each color is computer cut separate, from solid rolls of vinyl. I then hand-finish by removing (weed) out the excess vinyl and cover with masking. Each color is hand applied to the substrate separately, from background to foreground.
